Do You Have Fair Skin And Love The Summer Sun? Tips For You

Posted on

If you are a fair-skinned beauty that still loves getting out in the summer sun in spite of your light and fair skin, then you may wonder how you can take the best possible care of your skin while still getting out and about this summer season. There are many ways that you can protect your skin throughout the whole year and especially in the summer without having to sacrifice your time on the beach or at the pool. Get to know some of the steps that you can and should take to care for your fair skin so that you can start doing so as soon as possible.

Go to a Dermatologist for a Skin Cancer Screening

First and foremost, in order to protect your skin as much as possible this summer, you need to have a baseline knowledge of your skin health. People with fair skin, particularly those that have a tendency to freckle or burn easily are especially susceptible to developing skin cancer. So, at the beginning of summer or during the spring, schedule yourself an appointment with a dermatologist for a skin cancer screening.

Your dermatologist will have you answer numerous questions about your skincare routines and then will examine your skin, making note of any areas of your skin that may appear odd or problematic in nature. If a mole seems discolored or there is a patch of skin that is particularly damaged, your dermatologist will discuss it with you and determine a course of action regarding those questionable areas of your skin (if there are any).

Follow Up On Your Skin Cancer Screening

If your dermatologist tells you that there are areas of your skin that they would like to biopsy, you should schedule a follow-up appointment to have the procedure done as soon as possible. You do not want to risk further damaging your skin or allowing any precancerous or cancerous cells to spread or grow without your knowledge.

A biopsy is a quick and easy procedure that can be done in your dermatologist's office as an outpatient procedure. Once you have your results, you will know if you have any skin cancer issues and what you can and should do to further treat the condition through skin cancer treatments. And if not, you can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing that your skin is perfectly healthy.

Cover Up In The Sun With Protective Gear

While it may not be the first idea in your head when you head out to spend the day in the sun during the summer, you will want to be sure with your fair skin that you cover up as much as possible to prevent burns and other skin damage from the sun. Look for swimsuits and other coverups and gear that are SPF rated. These articles of clothing and swimwear will help keep the skin underneath safe from the damaging UV rays of the sun.

However, remember that SPF-rated clothing does not replace sunscreen, but merely adds another layer of protection. DO not forget your eyes and the top of your head when you are looking to protect your skin in the summer. Wear protective sunglasses to prevent damage to the sensitive skin around your eyes and your eyes themselves. The top of your head is also susceptible to burning, particularly along the part of your hair. Wear a hat when you will be out in the sun for long periods of time and seek out shade as much as possible.

With these tips in mind, you can be sure that you protect your fair skin this summer while also getting to enjoy all that the season has to offer.
